Korean law firm D&A – previously known as DR & AJU – has appointed Cheon Su Kim, former head of legal affairs and executive vice president of Hyosung Group, as a partner, in a move aimed at bolstering the firm’s corporate litigation, tax and logistics practices.

At D&A, Kim will focus on corporate disputes, tax matters and logistics-related issues. The firm said his appointment strengthens its ability to provide business-oriented legal advice that combines litigation strategy with corporate management considerations.

Kim brings over 30 years of legal experience across the judiciary, academia and corporate leadership. He began his career as a judge in 1992, serving at district courts in Busan, Ulsan and Suwon, as well as the Seoul High Court. He also worked as a research judge at the Supreme Court of Korea.

Before leaving the bench in 2010, Kim served as presiding judge at Incheon District Court and Seoul Western District Court. In 2017, he moved to Hyosung Group in 2017 as head of legal affairs

In that role, he oversaw legal and compliance functions across corporate, regulatory and governance matters for the South Korean conglomerate.

Kim currently serves as vice president of the Korea Distribution Law Association and sits on the board of the Korean Payment and Settlement Law Association.
