The Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in the Republic of Belarus has identified the top ten events in Belarusian-Chinese co-operation in 2025. The online procedure enabled anyone to express their opinion and choose ten events from the suggested options. At today’s briefing held at the Embassy of China, Alina Grishkevich, the Deputy Chairperson of the Belarus-China Friendship Society, the Honoured Cultural Worker of Belarus and a member of the Writers’ Union of Belarus, voiced these top events.
In particular, it was noted that the Chinese-Belarusian relations made a new breakthrough in 20205, and they are actively advancing in all directions under the strategic leadership of President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko and President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping. To emphasise the importance of such co-operation, the Embassy of China in Belarus has identified the top 10 events of Chinese-Belarusian relations over the past year, and they include diverse political, economic, parliamentary, cultural and educational events.
The top-level meetings of President of the Republic of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko and President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping on June 4th and August 31st, 2025 in Beijing and Tianjin were named the most striking point of the Belarusian-Chinese interaction. The leaders then exchanged views on the bilateral agenda, as well as regional and international issues of common interest, which determined a new contour for the development of bilateral ties.
Among the most important event was also Xi Jinping’s congratulatory message to Aleksandr Lukashenko on January 27th, 2025 on his re-election as President of the Republic of Belarus, in which the Chinese leader noted that he was ready to make joint efforts with President Aleksandr Lukashenko to continue the traditional friendship between Belarus and China, deepen mutually beneficial bilateral co-operation and promote the progressive development of Chinese-Belarusian relations for the benefit of the peoples of the two countries.
The top events also included the joint participation of Aleksandr Lukashenko and Xi Jinping in the SCO summit in Tianjin and commemorative events in Beijing from August 31st to September 3rd, dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, which deepened the Belarusian-Chinese interaction within the SCO, emphasised the correct view on the WWII history and strengthened the historical foundation of the century-old friendship between Belarus and China.
Three high-level Belarusian-Chinese events were also named among the most important ones: the second meeting of the Committee on Co-operation between the Legislative Bodies of Belarus and China, co-chaired by Chairperson of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Natalya Kochanova and Deputy Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress Zhang Qingwei, was held; Li Xi, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Secretary of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection of the CPC, paid a visit to Belarus and held talks with Head of Belarus’ President Administration Dmitry Krutoi; the 6th meeting of the Belarusian-Chinese Intergovernmental Committee on Co-operation took place under the chairmanship of Belarus’ First Deputy Prime Minister Nikolai Snopkov and Vice Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China Liu Guozhong. A consensus was achieved at all these negotiations on the implementation of the agreements reached by the two heads of state and the strengthening of bilateral co-operation.
The participation of the guards of honour of the People’s Liberation Army of China in the military parade in Minsk dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Soviet people’s Victory in the Great Patriotic War on May 9th was also noted. Belarus and China celebrated the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory together.
In addition, about 100 Chinese schoolchildren vacationed at the Zubryonok National Children’s Educational and Health Centre on August 11th-21st
at the invitation of the Belarusian leader, and that campaign – which was also named among the top events of 2025 – contributed to the development of youth exchanges between Belarus and China and the strengthening of friendship between the two peoples.
Another important event was the official commissioning of the national football stadium of the Republic of Belarus on June 7th, built using China’s technical and economic assistance. It became an important project of technical and economic aid from China and a vivid example of political mutual trust, business co-operation and rapprochement between the peoples of the two countries, which is a confirmation of the Belarusian-Chinese friendship.
In 2025, during China’s SCO chairmanship, Belarus participated in the SCO Foreign Ministers’ Council meeting, consultations of the defence and education ministers, heads of the SCO ministries and departments, which strengthened Belarusian-Chinese interaction on the Shanghai Co-operation Organisation platform and contributed to the further development of the SCO.
The Tea for Harmony festival held in Minsk on May 31st, 2025, which demonstrated Chinese cultural traditions and folk customs and became a signature event in the Belarus-China humanitarian exchange, was also called important.
In turn, the third session of the Belarusian-Chinese University Association on October 14th in Minsk gave a new impetus to the deepening of educational liaisons.
Today’s briefing also focused on the development of the Belarusian-Chinese all-weather and comprehensive partnership, which is rapidly developing through new events and achievements.
