Preliminary data from the State Data Agency showed that 18,155 Lithuanians returned home in 2025, while 9,669 emigrated. Most returnees came from the United Kingdom, Norway, Germany, Ireland and the Netherlands.

Foreign Minister Kęstutis Budrys said the trend reflected growing confidence in the state of Lithuania and the impact of sustained efforts by state institutions, municipalities and businesses, as well as strong links with the diaspora.

“More and more of our people are choosing to build their future here because they see prospects for a successful career, a safe environment for their families and ample opportunities for innovation and business in Lithuania,” Budrys said.

Since 2024, the ministry has coordinated the Grįžtu LT consultation centre, which provides returning or prospective returnees with advice on integration, social and health services, employment, education and citizenship.
