The Taliban’s Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation says that 255 Afghan migrants have been released from prisons in Pakistan.
In a statement issued on Thursday, January 29, the ministry said the individuals returned to Afghanistan over the course of the past week.
According to the ministry, the detainees had spent periods ranging from two days to two months in prison.
The Taliban’s Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation said the released migrants returned to the country through the Spin Boldak border crossing.
Last week, the Taliban had also reported the release of around 200 Afghan migrants from Pakistan.
Pakistan has stepped up the arrest and deportation of Afghan migrants in recent days.
