A family entertainment park, one and a half times the size of the national ground, will be built in the Artisan Village in Ta’Qali, the Economy Minister announced on Thursday.
Speaking at the launch of the national strategy for the crafts sector, Silvio Schembri revealed a call for proposals will be issued in the coming days for the development of a park that will cover more than 13,000 square metres.
As part of the government’s commitment to enhance the Ta’Qali artisan village, Schembri said the family entertainment park will create a “high-quality recreational destination that complements the surrounding artisanal activities”.
“This park will not only be an entertainment attraction but also a showcase of Maltese creativity and heritage. Through it, we will increase visitors to the Ta’ Qali Artisan Village and create new commercial opportunities for artisans,” the Minister said.
The national strategy for crafts will not only protect the sector hut also help it adapt to today’s world through innovation, ensuring skills are not lost but continue to evolve for future generations, the minister added.
Malta Crafts Foundation CEO Elton Micallef called the strategy a “historic step” and a first of its kind for the sector in Malta.
He said the initiative strengthens the confidence of all stakeholders in the sector while creating an environment that encourages continuity, investment, and long-term growth.
