Vermont refugee and immigrant advocacy organizations hold webinar to offer community support recommendations

On Thursday, refugee and immigrant advocacy groups across Vermont came together to host a webinar. They provided recommendations for community members looking to support their refugee and immigrant neighbors. Th meeting was held virtually on Zoom, and brought together eight different organizations from throughout the state and more than 1000 people to learn about the possibility of increased ICE activity.Organizers provided proactive steps community members can take, like donating hygiene products and food, and offering transportation services.” to help, with food security especially, and particularly since the loss of SNAP benefits for many refugees and asylees is to donate gift cards, fresh produce, or food produce like rice, and lentils,” said Sonali Samarasinghe with the United States Committee for Refugees and Immigrants.
