On Thursday, the future of natural gas production in the Northern Panhandle was a key topic at the Wheeling Area Chamber of Commerce’s “Expand Energy Day.”
Expand Energy Corp., formerly known as Southwestern Energy, says it has ongoing operations in six West Virginia counties.
“We’re steady in our production, steady in our operations, we’re the same acreage, same people, same values. We’ll be here in the future for years and years to come,” said Stephanie Paluda, community affairs manager for Expand Energy Corp.
Expand Energy Corp. is the largest independent natural gas producer in the country, focusing on harvesting Marcellus Shale.
“The reason that oil and gas companies are in places that they are simply because of where the formation is. You don’t choose where you get to operate, you choose where to operate based on where the operation lies,” Paluda said.
