Partygate: Sue Gray’s team reject claim she initiated meeting with PM over report

  1. No surprise with this government there another scandal about the investigation of a scandal. This keeps happening, it is a pattern of dirty behaviour.

  2. Her boss called her in and made it clear what she should (not) say, and what she would receive for doing “the right thing”.

The corrupt (and rising fascism) is plain for all to see.

  3. It’s just constant, constant dishonesty and it’s historically blatant. The normalisation of this is really serious, but the fact that they can get away with it is a major red flag for the health of democracy in the UK.

Nothing that reflects poorly can be acknowledged and the casual ease with which they distort or outright deny the truth is staggering to me.

I have at times in my life worked with people that I realised quickly enough were prone to dishonesty or outright lies. They would rather deny and cover for any failings or mistakes rather than acknowledge and learn from them. Boris Johnson is the lifelong embodiment of this and he is going to leave an un-washable stain on Westminster.

As always, I am disgusted, infuriated but in no way surprised. There is no ‘too low’ for these people, there is no floor or standard to which they will not fall beneath and keep going.

To those who voted for Brexit and installed the Brexit Party into Downing street. Thanks for this.

  4. >No 10 were swift to respond, with a source saying: “The PM did not request the meeting and hasn’t tried to influence the outcome in any way.

So the meeting happened by chance? Or is this the case of Johnson didn’t directly request it but told one of his PAs to take care of it.

  5. I remember watching V for Vendetta when it was a distorted version of Britain, yet every time I watch it now, it rings more and more true. England Prevails

  6. Johnson: “I did demand a meeting with Sue Gray but I wasn’t aware it would be a meeting, I didn’t know Sue Gray would be there and I wasn’t aware that I was speaking at the time.”

  7. I believe Sue Gray has integrity. Not for one minute do I think she initiated any meeting. I also believe she’ll quit over this horseshit and tell everyone the truth

  8. And Johnson denies he requested meeting her. Only one of them is telling the truth but neither outcome reflects well on the state of democracy in the UK right now. We have already had the report needlessly delayed because of council elections, there is no excuse for further delays or for the PM to get an advanced viewing so he knows what to hide or who to fire in advance.

  9. Boris lies and tries to cover up to stay in power who’s to say Sue Gray won’t do the same. To me it now makes the report a sham and unfortunately another waste of time and tax payers money
