The Boulder County commissioners recently approved $540,510 in environmental sustainability municipal matching grants to eight cities and towns across the county.

The money will support local governments with residential energy efficiency and electrification, climate resilient landscaping, tree planting, solar improvements and improved streetlighting. Municipalities committed an additional $135,128 in matching funds.

Grants were awarded to Longmont, Boulder, Lafayette, Louisville, Superior, Jamestown, Lyons and Nederland. Erie and Ward did not apply for funding.

The grant program is funded by the voter-approved Sustainability Tax and supports projects and policies that reduce greenhouse gas emissions or improve climate resiliency.
