MOSCOW, 30 January (BelTA) – Belarusian Deputy Prime Minister Natalya Petkevich introduced new Belarusian ambassador to Russia Yuri Seliverstov to the embassy staff in Moscow on 30 January, BelTA has learned.
In accordance with the decree of Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko, Yuri Seliverstov has been appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the Russian Federation and granted the functions of deputy prime minister for relations with Russia. He will also concurrently serve as the Plenipotentiary Representative of Belarus to the Economic Council of the Commonwealth of Independent States, and also the Special Representative of Belarus for integration cooperation within the framework of the Union State, the EAEU, the CIS, and the CSTO.
“There are never random appointments by our president; they are always deeply thought out. The decision to appoint, in this case Yuri Seliverstov is what the present time dictates,” Natalya Petkevich said while introducing the new head of the diplomatic mission to the diplomats. She highlighted the combination of Yuri Seliverstov’s outstanding professional and personal qualities.
“I am confident that our team will not let our country down. Tasks are many because everything is changing very rapidly. Everyone must adapt to this, sometimes working proactively. This is why diplomats are here, to utilize their skills. I believe we will succeed,” Ambassador Yuri Seliverstov said.
