The Iceland camp were unhappy with the officiating of the Norwegian referee duo. Denmark won 31:28 in front of 15,000 home fans, but a bitter aftertaste remained.

The best centre back on the planet, Gísli Kristjánsson, explained his view to the cameras of TV 2:

“There were a few decisions where Denmark were awarded free throws that we didn’t get. There are also many situations I need to watch again, but these are my first impressions after the match.”

Asked whether he felt everything was going Denmark’s way, he replied:

“I really don’t want to say it was going Denmark’s way. I see it more as there being many situations where they whistled too early. They didn’t allow us to play handball when we broke through; instead they stopped the game. I don’t know why. I also think there were a few decisions in the first half after which we could have been awarded many more free throws, but we weren’t,” said the SC Magdeburg star.
