It’s ok- much of the uk is “sick of experts and evidence” anyway…
And none of the guaranteed funding to replace EU funding is new money so it just means the pot is smaller for everyone else. Academia is a bloodbath at the moment, institutes are suddenly finding their funding slashed by millions of pounds a year.
The MRC is already warning that the funding models it has will disappear in the next few years.
One of the things the UK was truly world leading in destroyed, not even just due to ideology but to to pure indifference to the effects of a policy to get them in power.
Because removing the best person(s) for the job out of spite is really going to lead to better outcomes 🤨

It’s not a new development. The Horizon programme wants UK to be in but it’s blocked by other brexity things.
