Gazprom: European importers of Russian gas in 2020

  1. How on earth does Moldavia, who literally signed a renewal of their Gazprom contract weeks ago, doesn’t figure here?

  2. The Russia vs West is nothing but a ploy by the super rich in both sides. Pinning the common people of both sides against each other so we don’t realize we’re being shafted by them.

  3. Germany is also one of the largest exporters of natural gas in Europe. Yes, really. In 2017 they exported [34 billion m³](https://www.cia.gov/the-world-factbook/countries/germany/#energy) of natural gas, making them the third largest exporter in Europe after Russia and NL.

This is why stats like these don’t tell the whole picture, in case you wanted to jump on Germany due to its apparently large imports in comparision here.

  4. I don’t like this, it would be good if these countries could find ways not to be dependent on Russia. Russia has shown itself to be a bad faith/hostile geopolitical actor and we shouldn’t risk these countries going soft on them! Just look at Crimea, Salisbury poisonings and foreign election meddling for a start! We need a strong united approach when these things happen!

  5. I mean…our former chancellor Schröder gained one of the top positions at Gazprom after his chancellery 😐

  6. I particularly enjoy Poland, on the one hand they keep shouting that they will buy only democratic US LNG gas, they also burn the most coal in Europe (relative to other energy sources) and yet they manage to buy shitloads of gas from Gazprom too. It feels like they are secretly building an interplanetary gas spaceship.

  7. Austria gets almost all of its gas from Russia (rest: own production). In purely arithmetical terms, some of it comes from Norway, but these are just accounting games between different gas companies.

Gas heating is the most widespread type of heating. Unfortunately, we will be dependent on Russian gas for decades to come. In the next few years, we will have to get rid of coal and oil heating, and that alone will require a huge number of installers.
