Wife of former captive Omri Miran pushed back against remarks by Israel’s Hostage and Missing Persons Coordinator, Gal Hirsch, who said protest messages calling for the hostages’ return helped Hamas.

“I, too, can talk about the treatment we, the families, received over two years — about the gaslighting, the false promises,” Lishay Miran-Lavi wrote in a post on X, “the meetings with senior Trump administration officials but not with Israel’s prime minister (scheduling constraints, after all). The time Trump told us there was a deal – and you explained that it still needed government approval.”

“I know hundreds of other family members who can tell the same story,” Miran added. “No last-ditch battle over the narrative will change the truth that so many already know.”

Speaking to Haaretz, Hirsch said that the use of the word “now” and efforts to create a sense of urgency were unnecessary. “There was no need to create urgency for us,” he said. “When people told me they were going to protest, I asked: ‘Against whom are you protesting? We’re all on your side – what are you talking about?'”
