DES MOINES, Iowa — Around 250 Soldiers from the 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 34th Infantry Division, are returning to the United States this weekend.
These soldiers participated in Operation Inherent Resolve, collaborating with coalition and regional partners to weaken ISIS in Iraq and Syria. The return is part of a phased redeployment due to progress toward U.S. Central Command objectives.
Some soldiers are returning earlier as their mission requirements have concluded, while others will remain to continue essential tasks like partner support and base security.
Welcome home ceremonies are being organized and will occur in Des Moines and Sioux City within the next 14 days. Further details will be shared once finalized.
