How do you follow up a game like God of War: Ragnarök? The 2022 PlayStation exclusive was kind of the perfect ending for the God of War, Kratos. The man who murdered an entire pantheon of gods and spent years drenched in blood and revenge became a genuine savior and prevented a war. That’s beautiful, is what that is.

Of course, we all know Kratos will be back eventually. And while God of War 6 has yet to be officially confirmed, fans are already firmly united on where we should take our hero next.

Where Will God Of War 6 Take Place?

Walk like an Egyptian

God of War Ragnarok fighting a giant-1

The vast majority of leaks and rumors over the last few years point to Kratos heading to Egypt for his next adventure. It makes sense. 2018’s God of War established that Kratos lives in a world populated by gods from various mythologies, not just the Greek and Norse gods. Hardcore fans will also know Kratos has already canonically visited Egypt in the comic series God of War: Fallen God.

This series effectively bridges the gap between the original games and the newer entries, but there’s absolutely no reason Kratos couldn’t return to Egypt for the next game. In fact, fans are at the point where I think they’d be disappointed to get anything else.

“My personal pitch would be that the Egyptian gods come asking for help because they’re under attack by another pantheon,” one fan on Reddit wrote. “Kratos doesn’t want to get involved until it turns out that the invading pantheon is the Greek gods reborn as the Roman pantheon – Jupiter, Saturn, Mars, etc. He knows they’ll come for him eventually, and it’s best to fight them in Egypt rather than wait for them to invade Midgard.”

“It will be a prequel exploring Kratos’ rock bottom period between 3 and 4, and what led him to become the calm and reasonable Kratos we see in the Norse saga,” another fan theorized. “It might be a one-off-setting game.”

God Of War 6 Is Still A Long Way Off

We need to be patient, boi

Whatever shape God of War 6 ends up taking, it’ll be a long while before we finally see it. Nothing has been announced yet, and we know Sony Santa Monica has another game in development at the moment that has nothing to do with Kratos. That’s not to say the studio doesn’t have multiple projects on the go, but whichever way you shake it, God of War 6 is a long way away.

In the meantime, there are rumors that we could be getting a God of War spinoff/prequel later this year, so be sure to keep an eye out for that. It could contain some clues to the next main game in the series.
