The armed forces have rescued a man and a dog from a boat that ran aground in the north of Malta.
In a Facebook post, Armed Forces Malta (AFM) said its rescue vessel Melita II rescued the man and dog before passing them on to other authorities for further assistance.
AFM urged the public to take note of weather warnings and avoid venturing out to sea when such weather warnings are active.
Announcing a yellow weather warning for Sunday, the Civil Protection Department (CPD) warned yesterday that wind speeds were projected to reach Force 7 or 8 this morning. The CPD said to expect “rough seas” today.
The yellow weather warning remains in place until 7pm tonight.
This year has gotten off to a windy and stormy start, with Malta experiencing multiple days of gale-force winds and facing the onslaught of Storm Harry just under two weeks ago.
