Sixteenth medal for Croatia at major tournaments! Croatia’s bronze at Men’s EHF EURO 2026 has joined an impressive collection, expanded under Dagur Sigurðsson last year with silver at the 2025 IHF Men’s World Championship. Sigurðsson — the third Icelander to coach Croatia — previously won European gold with Germany at EHF EURO 2016.
It all started with Croatia’s first European Championship bronze at EHF EURO 1994 in Portugal, when head coach was Zdravko Zovko. The biggest medal haul came in the era of Lino Červar, whose name is linked to as many as seven medals. Slavko Goluža won three medals as head coach, Željko Babić has one (EHF EURO 2016), while Croatia’s first Olympic gold was won under Velimir Kljaić.
