Rare UK seabirds put at risk by ‘alarming loophole’, say campaigners | Birds

  1. Animal welfare and conservation is full of loopholes. Look at the Hunting Act, in wanting to appease everyone it was just a mess of New Labour half-arsed legislation that is so leaky that hunts literally laugh at it and anyone who thinks its gone away.

Saying that we are “a nation of animal lovers” rolls off the tongue nicely and allows for a good deal of collective ~~self-fellatio~~ patting ourselves on the back, but its a talk the talk vs walk the walk issue and in reality animal welfare needs a huge overhaul.

  2. They can’t even get the native birthrate to replacement levels, why expect them to be able to halt seabird decline?
