Take a second to think about your future and what role new technology, like artificial intelligence, will play in it.
Do you see AI helping or hurting humankind?
Will it make our lives easier?
Maybe your imagination pictures something more scary … like thousands of robots taking over!
We gathered 100 kids from the greater Vancouver area in British Columbia to reflect on that and play a game called Hope or Nope.
We wanted to know: When it comes to your future and new technology like AI, do you have hope, nope or are you unsure?

How do 100 kids feel about artificial intelligence and their futures?
Some teens like Aaron Bai, 15, have hope for artificial intelligence when it comes to using it as a tool in their work.
“I feel like just AI in general is just like this really great thing that can help us speed up our processes, make everything more accurate and also just like do everything better,” he told CBC Kids News contributor Matthew Hines.

Other participants like Teagan Filbey, 15, voted that they were unsure about AI technology.
While Teagan supported analytical AI to help find patterns and even assist doctors in diagnosing diseases, she strongly dislikes generative AI being used to make art.
“I consider myself to be very creative. I play music, I do art … I don’t think we should be letting a robot — a soulless, heartless, unimaginative, disgusting robot — take over such an important thing,” she said.
“That’s such a personal thing to us as human beings.”
What is Hope or Nope again?
In a townhall meets game show called Hope or Nope, CBC Kids News asked 100 kids to take a stand — literally — on how they feel about their futures.
Do they have hope? Are they unsure? Or maybe they firmly say “nope.”
By standing on giant circles representing hope, nope or unsure on a film studio floor, 100 kids from the greater Vancouver area shared their perspective.
Over the course of the show, they heard from their peers and experts in three areas (AI, cost of living and climate change). They also asked questions and gained new knowledge that might change their points of view.

In the final vote on artificial intelligence, kids got to pie a robot.
There were green pies for hope, yellow pies for those unsure and red pies for nope.
What about you? How are you feeling about artificial intelligence?
Now it’s your turn to share your vote!
