Always important to me to hear the plight of the Uighur diaspora. Real depressing things like separation and no contact and then there is the usual critique about learning Chinese as well.
Why learning Chinese is seen as such a huge negative?
I understand the Confucius institute overstepping by also politically influencing the students, but why is learning Chinese in China for minorities seen as oppressive? For example Mongolian is taught in China but they learn Chinese as well and it’s seen as oppression. In contrast Mongols outside of China don’t learn their script anymore.
Same with Uighurs they still learn their language but you add Chinese and it’s oppression.
Do the west only see language as correct and non oppressive if the minority themselves decide to teach the countries language? Is there a example of this in America or Europe where the minority doesn’t have to learn the official language since it’s seen as oppression?
They are only winning because we (liberal democratic societies) trade with authoritarian regimes.
I would be 100% for cutting all trade, seizing laundered money with likes of Russia, China, Turkey, Belarus etc

Couldn’t you make a similar argument in the later 1920’s and obviously the 1930’s. The century has still only just begun. Granted it ended with over 70 million people dead but the bad guys lost in the end.
