Recently I’ve noticed that flightradar24 shows daily scheduled flights between Luxembourg and Shanghai operated by China Eastern Airlines.

However, I could not find any information about them online (e.g. news articles), which I would expect should such an important connection open from Luxairport.
Furthermore, it is not possible to book direct flights LUX-PVG on the website of China Eastern.
From what I could find, these flights seem to be operated by normal passenger jets, suggesting that it’s not a cargo connection.
Does anyone know more about this mysterious flight connection?

A330. I guess they could possibly turn it as a cargo, which would explain why you don’t see it listed as a commercial flight.
That would be great to have such a passenger flight to an internal Asian hub from Luxembourg.

Cargo plane, configured as preighter.
It’s a cargo airplane. The furthest direct passenger flight from Luxembourg is Dubai
Maybe a passenger version temporarily converted to carry cargo?
The embassy itself still recommends people to fly BRU/DUS/FRA and until several weeks ago flying LUX wasn’t even an option for those wishing to obtain a health code for entry
Long long time ago, Cargolux used to have passenger seats on the upper deck in their 747 planes – about a dozen, I believe. You could buy seats to any of their destinations – Dubai, South India (forget where), Singapore and Australia.
Used to be very cheap. They turned those to staff only, insurance rules, then they had to have a cabin crew for these dozen passengers, so costs started getting uneconomical and we lost that option.
Never used it, before my time, so mostly hearsay, but I know some people who joked they could afford to go to Aus for a massage and buy groceries in India on the way back.
