WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – A free tour highlighting black-owned businesses across Wichita will take place Saturday, Feb. 28, as part of Black History Month celebrations.
The Black Business Tour will begin at 10 a.m. at Cargill Protein Headquarters, located at 825 E. Douglas Ave. near Nafztger Park. Additional start times are available at 10:30 a.m., 11 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.
This year’s theme is “Standing on Business 365,” encouraging people to support black businesses year-round rather than just during February.
Participants will check in at the headquarters before boarding shuttles for the tour. The route will visit more than 10 black-owned businesses across Wichita, including locations in downtown, Old Town and College Hill areas. Small bites will be provided along the way.
The tour is expected to last about five hours. Spots are limited for the free event.
Tasha Hayes, who is organizing the tour, said it provides valuable exposure for local businesses.
“It’s a great opportunity for individuals to explore black-owned businesses in the downtown, old town and college hill area,” Hayes said. “It provides an opportunity to bring awareness to the businesses and economic development.”
While the tour is free to sign up for, spots are limited. If you’d like to sign up, you can find information for doing so here: Black Business Tour.
