As the U.S. travel industry looks to revitalize tourism this year with events like the World Cup, summer bookings from Europe to the U.S. are on the decline, according to one measure.

Bookings from Europe to the U.S. for July 2026 fell 14.2% compared to the same month last year, according to data from Cirium. The steepest declines were from Frankfurt, down 36%, Barcelona (down 26%), and Amsterdam (23%). 

Cirium said the data is from third-party sources, primarily online travel agencies and the global distribution system that airlines and travel agents use. 

The booking patterns are in line with the trend of declining inbound travel to the U.S. International travel to the U.S. fell for the eighth straight month in December.
