Romanian regional airline Legend Airlines has shut down due to its troubled operations. Legend’s most recent controversy involved allegations of human trafficking, which resulted in Legend tarnishing its reputation even further. The authorities on the scene detained the aircraft due to the possibility of it illegally transporting Indian nationals for the purposes of human trafficking. Major international coverage and attention due to the potential human trafficking drove down the reputation of the airline further.
A lawyer for Legend Airlines has stated that the airline is being falsely accused of mishandling the flight in question, asserting that Legend is not operating that flight, as it is being handled by a charter airline. Legend’s legal counsel stated that Legend Airlines has not advertised or sold tickets for the flight in question, attempting to distance Legend Airlines from the accusations. However, the airline’s future remained bleak due to the aforementioned accusations and the fallout from the incident.
