‘It makes no sense’: reaction to plan to revive imperial measurements in UK | Brexit

  1. Very unlikely to happen, and most Brits haven’t asked for it, so don’t get the media fixation. 1st world problems I guess

  2. The most sympathetic argument for this is that it gives vendors / merchants the freedom to choose which is the appropriate measurement to use rather than making this a competency of the government.

It’s still fucking idiotic bit at least that *half* makes sense. Of course it’s too perfect for the guardian to miss another “blue passport” opportunity. But really Boris shouldn’t be given them open goals like this.

  3. Zero chance of this happening, at most he will push for the removal of the EU law that forbade things being only listed in Imperial. Which of course nobody will do because outside of pints, nobody under 50 uses imperial to measure food and drink.

  4. His latest proposed ‘benefit’ is on the front page of the independent today. Trash every EU law that has been good for us……environment, worker’s rights, health and safety etc. All to try to win over his back benchers. I call it an absolute disgrace!

  5. As someone who uses a modified version of the Imperial system I wish we would all just use metric. Multiple systems of measurement have no benefit.
