Hey everyone, I’ve tried to go through kennels at [hankikoira.fi](https://hankikoira.fi) but it’s a total mess. I’ve spent several nights and either didn’t get a response from kennel either not figured out is kennel is still active. Has anyone bought a purebreed in Finland? Is it really so messy and painful experience?

What do you mean messy and painful?
There just light not be puppies at the moment. And most breeders have jobs etc. so it might take few days for them to answer
I have seen pups been put up in tori. There are also facebook groups for dog breeds and they can sometimes sell you the pups. They start from around 1000 euros and up.There was option of getting one from saint peteresburg, but it’s a bit harder now.
Might I also suggest adopt don’t shop? There are woffa Ry, kulkurit and viipurin koira who have puppies for adoption.
Afaik shiba inus are quite popular at the moment so there may not be a lot of puppies available at all times.
I’d recommend contacting the local shiba inu breed association (Suomen shiba ry), they have an e-mail for puppy inquieries etc.

I have two Kishu Ken and they are rarer than the Shiba Inu is. The Kennelliitto pages direct you to the relevant breed association, links were already in other comments. I hope this will not be your first dog. Shiba is not for just anyone. Like all Japanese Spitz breeds, they have a lot of character but adapt to a steady family life in a cooperative manner, if their needs and quirks are satisfied. Good luck.
I managed to dig up a relatively recent list of reputable breeders. I could DM it to you if you want? But like I said in another comment, shiba puppies are hard to come by and their waitlists can be long as hell.
I dont know what is so messy, i contacted a kennel when they were in the pregnancy phase so no pups out yet with an application and the breeder said there was a long list of ppl wanting puppies. Shibas and Akitas are popular so expect long queues 🙂 and also breeders are very picky and have certain standards.
