I’m trying to leave Germany for a while as I didn’t have the best of experiences. So I left my last WG to spend my last weeks at a friend’s house. The thing is, shit happens, I broke my arm (again) and couldn’t handle the bureaucracy soon enough. Now I’m trying to fulfill the Abmeldung for the Krankenkasse but they keep sending me post to my former address! This wouldn’t be a problem if my last landlord wasn’t so cold blooded to return my mail everytime something gets in, as the roomie I had was watching for the letters and was about to give them to me.
How can I get the mail back, if possible? I asked in the Krankenkasse and they say they didn’t get anything back and that I should turn to this [site](http://www.nachsendeauftrag.de/) but it seems you have to activate it 4 days before you move out, not now that it’s too late. And also 23 euros…
Does someone have a similar experience? What should I do?

Have you changed your address at the city and have you bought a Nachsendeauftrag at the post? If not, do that.
If your German is reasonable I would call and talk to a live person and explain your situation and see what they say.
