Aultman College to hold Preview Day 

CANTON – Aultman College plans an open house-style Preview Day for interested students at 10 a.m. Feb. 21. 

The event includes tours of college facilities and classrooms, the opportunity to meet with students, faculty and staff, and presentations about the various programs in nursing, radiography, medical assisting and the health sciences, as well as College Credit Plus for high school students.

Aultman Alliance Community Hospital auxiliary offers scholarship 

ALLIANCE – Aultman Alliance Community Hospital’s auxiliary is accepting applications for the Dr. James J. Thomas Scholarship, a $1,500, non-renewable scholarship awarded annually to four local high school seniors interested in pursuing a career in the human healthcare field.

Applications are available in the hospital gift shop; at alturl.com/k8yvz; or from high school guidance counselors. Applications must be submitted, along with a copy of an official high school transcript, by 3 p.m. March 20. 

Scholarship recipients are selected by a committee representing the auxiliary, healthcare professionals and the community.

Massillon Rotary offers nursing scholarships 

MASSILLON – Massillon Rotary Foundation Nursing Scholarship awards will be available for 2026. The amount of the scholarship has yet to be determined. 

Eligible applicants must live or work in Massillon or Western Stark County and be accepted or enrolled in an accredited nursing program. Scholarship recipients are eligible to re-apply annually.

Architecture scholarship available

JACKSON TWP. – SoL Harris/Day Architecture is accepting applications for the John E. Harris III Architectural Scholarship Award until April 3.

Scholarships available for careers in natural gas, oil 

The Ohio Natural Energy Foundation is accepting applications until March 1 for the 2026 scholarship program, supporting students pursuing careers in the natural gas and oil industry. Students must complete the application, submit letters of recommendation, a resume, and official transcript.   

Each scholarship is worth $1,500 per year with a total of four years of potential eligibility. The minimum scholarship criteria include:  

Must be a U.S. citizen.Must have a career goal in the natural gas and oil industry.Must be an Ohio resident or student attending, or planning to attend, an accredited Ohio college, university, technical or trade school.Must have and maintain a grade point average of 2.5 or higher.

Mount Union plans Black History Month events

ALLIANCE – University of Mount Union will hold the following events, open to the community, to celebrate Black History Month.

A Freedom and Expression Paint and Sip will be at 7 p.m. Feb. 10 in the University’s Wayne Manzilla Center. A Black History Month Church Service will be at 1 p.m. Feb. 15 at Mount Union’s Dewald Chapel.

The annual Black Student Union Fashion Show will be at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 21 in Brush Performance Hall of Mount Union’s Giese Center for the Performing Arts. There will also be a panel titled “Divine 9: Service, Scholarship and Social Justice” from 6 to 8 p.m. Feb. 25 in Presser Recital Hall in the Giese Center.

The Pathfinders Lecture Series returns with two events in February. Sandy Womack, area superintendent for Region III of Columbus City Schools, will present “Honoring the Past, Acknowledging the Present, Inspiring the Future” from 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Feb. 19 in the Newbold Room of the University’s Hoover-Price Campus Center. 

The Pathfinders honorees will be recognized at a luncheon from 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Feb. 26 in the Newbold Room. Those honorees include Abby (Honaker) Schroeder (Faculty/Staff Honoree), Jeziah Farrar and Abby Reagan (Student Honorees), Kimesha “Callie” Flonnoy (Community Honoree) and Bylynn Hatcher (Alliance High School Honoree). Registration is required for the luncheon and is limited to the first 50 people.
