BATH — Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth will be visiting General Dynamics Bath Iron Works on Monday.
The visit comes as part of his nationwide “Arsenal of Freedom” tour.
Hegseth’s department says the tour is a call to action to “revitalize America’s manufacturing might and re-energize the nation’s workforce.”
A January release from Hegseth’s department reads in part, “the tour’s message will emphasize that our national security and the peace of the world move at the speed of our Defense Industrial Base (DIB) and rely on the hard work of our American workforce.”
Bath Iron Works is a full-service shipyard that designs and builds ships for the U.S. Navy.
The Shipyard confirmed Hegseth’s visit.
According to the shipyard, Hegseth is “planning to meet with shipbuilders and executive staff, tour production buildings and address shipbuilders” on Monday, Feb. 8.
