I once was at a viewing in Stuttgart and we were 30 people.
There are still W210 driving around in Berlin?
You could easily double or tripple that line in Cologne in the 90s
I once went to a public viewing in Berlin and was in a line that stretched from the door, through the hallway, up to the third floor. After that, I only applied for private viewings and had a lot of success with that.
That is a slow day.
I am not even invited to visit an apartment in Stuttgart.
Makes me glad I live in a small town. We got the first apartment we applied for out of 3 or 4 applicants.
slow day, eh? i know far more disturbing pictures of viewings in berlin
Konstanz is 3 to 5 times worse lol
A couple of months ago I went to one in Freiburg. It was on a fourth floor and the queue on the stairs went almost to the first floor.
Ah, and for a Neubau that probably costs 2,000 a month for 50 square meters. For something more reasonable it’d be 100 people.
this is kindergeburtstag. i read an article the other day (for the life of me i cannot find it right now) where a reporter who wrote the article went to a viewing and 256 people showed up. sounds like a lot of fun.
Moved from Munich to Helsinki. Looked at 3 apartments. Was offered all of them and chose the one I loved the most.

I sometimes miss Germany, but definitely not the looking for apartment topic.
I’m not German and I never visited Germany.
So how does this work? Who decides who gets the place? Is it always like this in Germany?
And those are the ones that won the random selection or got their request in during the five minutes before the advert was deactivated.
I’ve been to more than 20 viewings so far with no luck, and in around half of those viewings, we were at least 50. The others I would say not less than 15.
I mean, going to an apartment viewing with only about 20-30 in a major city anywhere isn’t that bad.
Daily Life in Munich.
I applied to 55 apartments in Munich, and only got an invite to a few of them but they were also like group viewings with a very low probability of success.
But one that I got invited to, I applied using Immobilienscout24 premium account, saw that there were like 300+ applicants and didn’t hope for much but once I was there the girl told me she invited only TWO of us, in the end, she chose me! super lucky
When I was looking for an apartment I had been in so many open viewings that after some time I started meeting again people that we had been in the same viewings before, and we were discussing our progress so far
Thats actually a reasonable amount of possible tenants.
Man, I wish we had W210 taxis in the US!
Laughs as Nachmieter in SH
Is it because of the lack of housing? Strict laws? I’m genuinely curios
Been living in Hamburg (love the city) since 2014. I’m moving back to the country Side to build a house in a week. I can’t deal with bleeding rent money for huge amounts of money for little m². It’s insane.. Homeoffice sice COVID started and IT dev do help..
I keep saying I’ll go back to city life but who knows..
Is the this considered a lot? Laughs in Dublin
Good to know there’s not just a housing crisis in the States.
Had the same in Cologne, not even close to the city center (Frechen)
I have had the same experience in Cologne, 1980ies, nothing new here.
Me in Nuremberg getting the apartment in a week: “I am four parallel universes ahead of you!”
I agree. Some landlords are pretty nice. If you really hit it off personally, they offer you the apartment.
Is it only me that when I see something like this I immediately get intimidated and go for beer or coffee instead?
Yea this fckn country cant fullfill the basic needs of its citizens.
One hour before the actual viewing, right? Because that is not a lot of people.
Move to the counrtyside Lots of cheap Appartments also people Tend to be lesss shittty then in berlin
Is this considered as standard in every large German?
What are the average prices of 50 m flats in New apartaments in Berlin and Munich?
As someone who is currently trying to find a new apartment in Berlin…oof.
I am considering moving to berlin. I ve seen so many posts like this one? How long should I realistically plan it might take to find an apartment looks like the 3 month notice period might not be enough

Not only Berlin. Unfortunately.
That’s not interesting. No offence.
