BREAKING: Lake District National Park Authority permanently bans hunts

  1. Good stuff but the landowners will probably just threaten to withdraw from the park.

This happened in Scotland when they wanted to build a gold mine and the authorities caved in.

We need genuine national parks rather than the privately-owned nonsense we have now.

  2. I really wish it had actually been banned properly in 2004 rather than it ending up being a half-arsed piece of New Labour legislation. All that drama and pushback from the countryside alliance at the time and it just ended up being a flimsy piece of legislation they literally laugh at.

For real, almost 20 years later and does anyone genuinely truly think organised Foxhunting has stopped or that the activity has reduced at all?

  3. Can someone explain why hunting is bad? As far as I know, without hunters the population of fox and deer would be right out of hand and will destroy the natural habitat without the reintroduction of wolves (which I’m not against). The morality issue as well … I’m sure it’s far less painful to be shot than torn apart by wolves teeth

Just a p.s., I would rather wildlife return to its natural state, with a natural predator of these animals, instead of hunters.

  4. About bloody time. Now they just need to ban them in public spaces, and in parliament. Will this have an immediate effect on the number of… Oh _hunts_.

  5. I’m February I witnessed a hunt whilst out fell running. Saw them dig out a fox from its den and then set a pack of hounds after it.
I don’t know whether it got away as they disappeared over the fell top, but I couldn’t believe I’d just seen it. There were a few landies with some old fellas with binoculars watching, I assume for the entertainment.
I contacted the police and gave the reg plates of the cars involved, not sure if anything came of that in particular but I’m hopeful now at least it might not happen again.

  6. Which, like killing protected bird species to benefit grouse shooting, will be ignored by the cruel cunts who claim tradition is more important.
Following tradition is simply bowing to peer pressure from dead people.
