MILAN, Italy — Defenseman Katarina Jobst-Smith scored at 1:07 of overtime to give Germany a 2-1 win over France in women’s hockey in a 2026 Winter Olympics game on Monday, Feb. 9.
The other goal for Germany was scored at 19:25 of the first period on the power play by former St. Cloud State forward Laura Kluge. Kluge, who played for the Huskies from 2017-21, had four shots on goal and played 20 minutes, 22 seconds.
SCSU senior forward Svenja Voigt
also played for Germany and three shots on goal and played 17:34.
Defenseman Caroline Harvey and forward Joy Dunne each had a goal and two assists and Gwyneth Philips stopped all 20 shots she faced to lead Team USA to a win over Switzerland.
St. Cloud State junior forward Laura Zimmermann
had a shot on goal and played 12:01 for Switzerland.
Forward Julia Gosling had two goals and Ann-Renee Desbiens made 18 saves to lead Canada to the win.
Forwards Laura Stacey, Sarah Fillier and Kristin O’Neill added goals for Canada.
Forward Klára Hymlárová, who played for SCSU from 2019-24,
played for Czechia. Hymlárová played 16:44 in the game.
In the other women’s game Monday, Italy beat Japan, 3-2.
Forwards Natalie Mylnkova and Tereza Pistekova had goals and Klara Peslarova stopped all 25 shots she faced to lead Czechia to the win on Sunday, Feb. 8.
Hymlárová had two shots on goal and played 19:22 for Czechia.
Jenniina Nylund, who played for SCSU from 2018-23,
had two shots on goal and played 15:32 for Finland.
Siiri Yrjölä, a sophomore defenseman for SCSU,
had one shot on goal and played 8:27 for Finland.
In the other game Sunday, Sweden beat France, 4-0.
