The producer of Vijay’s Jana Nayagan has officially moved to withdraw its writ petition against the censor board. In a letter submitted to the Madras High Court Registry, the producer confirmed they have opted to take the film before a revising committee instead of continuing the legal battle.
The petition is scheduled to appear before Justice PT Asha today, marked specifically for withdrawal. This follows a move by KVN Productions LLP’s counsel, Vijayan Subramanian, who formally communicated that his client no longer wishes to move forward with the lawsuit.
Launch of Latam-GPT
Several Latin American countries are set to launch Latam-GPT, the region’s first large artificial intelligence language model, today. Developed as an open-source project, it aims to boost AI accessibility and reflect the unique cultural and linguistic diversity of Latin America.
The project is led by Chile’s National Center for Artificial Intelligence (CENIA) in collaboration with over 30 regional institutions. Work on Latam-GPT began in January 2023, with support from the regional development bank CAF and Amazon Web Services (AWS). The model is based on Llama 3 technology and is trained using both regional supercomputing facilities and cloud systems, including those at the University of Tarapaca in Chile.
Some of its aims are to understand local cultures and dialects, promote the preservation of indigenous languages, support the development of public service chatbots and educational tools, and finally provide a cost-effective, open-source alternative for regional innovation.

The crash involved a chartered Learjet 45 that was attempting to land at the Baramati table-top airstrip amid reported poor visibility. It resulted in five fatalities, including Ajit Pawar and his personal security officer.
Union Minister Murlidhar Mohol confirmed that the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) and the DGCA have recovered the black box and are currently conducting a technical analysis.

Ronald Heath to be executed in Florida for 1989 murder
Ronald Palmer Heath is scheduled to be executed by lethal injection on Friday at 6:00 pm at the Florida State Prison. This marks the first execution in Florida for 2026, following a modern-era record of 19 executions in the state last year.
Heath was convicted of first-degree murder, armed robbery, and forgery of Michael Sheridan, a traveling salesman from New York. On May 24, 1989, Heath and his brother, Kenneth, met Sheridan at a bar in Gainesville. They lured him to a wooded area under the guise of smoking marijuana, where they robbed him.

According to court records, Heath stabbed Sheridan in the neck with a hunting knife and attempted to slit his throat. When the knife proved too dull, he ordered his brother to shoot Sheridan twice in the head.
