Tourists worried about high Irish prices this summer

  1. It’s the constantness of it that’s the thing.

OK, we might have the highest electricity bills in the EU (someone has to, after all), but do we have to have the highest petrol prices _and_ the highest car tax _and_ the highest rail fares, _and_ the highest insurance prices, _and_ the highest bank charges _and_ the highest mortgage interest, _and_ the highest alcohol prices, _and_ the highest rents, _and_ …

  2. My folks used to pop into the K-Club in Kildare on the way back from visiting relatives in Dublin. They always enjoyed having lunch in there. They haven’t gone back in so many years and recently were in the area- so they popped in. The cost of food there had gone up so much that they weren’t really inclined to dig in as they had done in the past.

Honestly, if the local’s can’t pop into their favourite hotspots anymore, makes sense why it would challenge international tourism.

  3. Housing becomes a crisis when it impacts Google and Intel’s recruitment. Inflation becomes a crisis when it impacts the American tourist market.
