In a situation update at 7 pm, at a press conference at the headquarters of the National Emergency and Civil Protection Authority (ANEPC), in Carnaxide, Oeiras municipality, Lisbon district, Commander Mário Silvestre said that a total of 1,272 people have been evacuated from their homes following adverse weather conditions, according to data reported up to 6 pm.
The cases of displaced people, who had to leave their homes as a “preventive measure,” are concentrated in the Central region, namely Beira Baixa, Coimbra and Leiria, in the Lisbon and Tagus Valley region, where Almada, Peniche, Tomar, Torres Vedras, Óbidos, Lourinhã and Loures stand out, in the district of Beja, with Mértola and Vidigueira, and in the Algarve, especially in Vila Real de Santo António, according to Civil Protection data.
In terms of flooded areas, the national commander of ANEPC highlighted Coimbra, Leiria, Beira Baixa, Beiras and Serra da Estrela, in the Central region; Greater Lisbon, Oeste, Lezíria do Tejo and Médio Tejo, in the Lisbon and Tagus Valley region; Mértola, Odemira, Vidigueira and Ourique, in the Alentejo region; and Castro Marim, Lagoa, Portimão and Alcoutim, in the Algarve region.
