Princess Eugenie is one of the few members of the royal family to have an official Instagram account – and it’s clear there are some tricky rules to abide by.
In fact, the royal was once caught out by a little-known requirement after sharing a photo of her father, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, inside Buckingham Palace at his first Trooping the Colour as Colonel of the Grenadier Guards in 2018.
The post racked up nearly 50,000 likes at the time when she shared it on her Instagram account @princesseugenie shortly after joining the platform. However, it soon got the Princess, now 35, into hot water as it was taken in a private corridor that was off-limits to the public.
In a rare joint interview with her older sister, Princess Beatrice, for British Vogue at the time, Eugenie said: “I recently got in trouble for posting a picture of Papa in a corridor of the palace that was off-limits to the public.” At the time, Eugenie was preparing to marry
Andrew, who has faced further humiliation after he featured multiple times in the latest release of the so-called “Epstein files” this month, was later stripped of the role along with his other military affiliations in January 2022 in a decision approved by Queen Elizabeth II. Colonel of the Grenadier Guards is one of the most senior infantry regiments in the British Army.
Eugenie’s trip abroad
This week, Eugenie re-emerged for a low-key appearance in Qatar, after keeping a low profile in recent months. She was pictured at the Art Basel 2026 in Doha, which she is attending in her capacity as director at contemporary art gallery Hauser & Wirth.
The royal was wearing a symmetric top and a high-rise pleated midi skirt both from Reiss, with a black shoulder bag from Mark Cross and a pair of white trainers from Loci.
She was also pictured with her friend, model Caroline Daur, 30, who once dated Romeo Beckham and is now dating the Russian tennis player Alexander Zverev. Caroline tagged Eugenie in a story on Instagram, writing: “Reunion!!! It’s been too long.”
Are Beatrice and Eugenie still in contact with Andrew?
Beatrice, Eugenie and their parents, Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, once made no secret of the closeness of their family bond. Even though Andrew and Sarah divorced in 1996, they remained close friends afterwards and lived together at Royal Lodge in Windsor.
Sarah once told HELLO!: “A table can’t stand on three legs, really, so you have the Duke and I, and the two girls. We’re a family unit and we lead by example. We support each other emotionally and we support each other health wise.
“At least every two weeks we sit down and communicate, the four of us. I think the one thing I’ve done incredibly well – although I say it myself – is that I’m a really good mum. And I think my girls show that.”
It is believed that the daughters are still in contact with both of their parents, despite growing tensions from an increasing string of scandals. Princess Beatrice was even spotted out for a horse ride with Andrew at the Royal Mews and Windsor Castle last week, in pictures published by The Sun.
