Why aren’t these Brīvības piemineklis’s three stars rusting?

  1. I assume they’re also made of copper, which gets green rather than rusts. Plus they are regilded from time to time

  2. I don’t think they are gold coated, typically gold-like color is TiN (titanium nitride) coating that is used for corrosion-protection. At least that’s the way the domes of churches are “gilded”.
