TIL Cruzcampo is named for the Cruz del Campo

  1. Locals already know, but only today I learned the Andalucian beer Cruzcampo is named for this cross, the Cruz del Campo in Sevilla. The marble cross is from 1571, but a much older (14th c.) cross originally stood there, raised by the free Black and North African Hermandad de la Luz de Nuestra Señora de los Angeles.

  2. I hate Cruzcampo. It’s the worst beer I’ve ever tasted in my life. It tastes like soap.

When I’m in Sevilla I like to troll Cruzcampo on Instagram. I post photos and talk about how horrible it is and the social media team always like and comment on the photos.

  3. It is so funny to see Cruzcampo haters complaining about how bad it is, while drinking a Mahou…

  4. Cruzcsmpo also has a bodega system that predates estrella Galicia one, but the key is temperature, I rarely see out of Seville the “glaciar” qué system, when you are at 40 degrees nothing cool you down better than a bitter Cruzcsmpo served at – 2 degrees.

I have live in Ireland several years and I can assure you it ruined Guinness for me, now I only can drink it when in Dublin, it taste different in each pub
