It makes me so sad to see this, that kids are socialised to be like this and act like this. Why in the world they feel they gain something (Street cred) for doing this and are so close-minded, I don’t understand. Why aren’t they just being kids and enjoying themselves at the funfair?
I’m a 34 year old man, not insignificant in size and build and I’ve almost been “mobbed” by a gang of teenagers when coming out of the cinema with my children simply because I ignored a group saying shit to me. They already started to push me and one kicked my back, trying to kick me down while I was actually holding hands with my two young boys. If I wasn’t next to my car and managed to get in a I don’t know what would have happened. They kicked the car and stood in front of it but I reversed back quickly as no car was behind me.
Sorry, long story about myself and not much about poor Jack and his family. I can’t fathom how, but I hope they can mourn and find closure somehow.
Don’t really know how I feel about the joint enterprise murder laws but I have to say that it seems appropriate in this case.
Reading about how the events unfolded, it must have been absolutely terrifying for him.

Glad the verdict came back as it did, and with more than 3 days of deliberation it’s not a verdict that was approached at lightly.
Why do they get another chance at life. Their victim doesn’t get another chance.

There was something weirdly sobering about the 14 year old saying he did it to impress his friends. It’s honest but completely disturbing. Kids shouldn’t be assaulting strangers like that.
Only reformed perpetrators of crimes like these can reach the ones who are heading down a similar path. There needs to be serious investment in youth schemes, it’s the only way to tackle this kind of anti social aggression.
I hope they go above and beyond to make extreme examples of these little shits.
This is the end result of throwing away all the old values that kept society together. I hope the family pull through this terrible time.

One thing not yet mentioned is just the pure lack of shit to do in our towns. Social sports and martial arts clubs are all pretty good at giving kids some sense of community and an outlet.
Instead we just put up those mosquito noise alarms to stop kids congregating aimlessly
