Long story short, I ended up in a Finnish hospital. The doctors helped me while I was in a very serious situation. I’m not a Finnish tax payer and I’d like to give back somehow. What’s the most effective way? Is there somewhere I can volunteer in Helsinki for a few days that needs support, or maybe donate to something Finland is needing money for now? I don’t want to leave having given nothing back.

Update: so a few common trends have popped up here, a lot of folks are saying Ukraine, and a lot of folks are saying MLL, and the highest up-voted comment is a list of mental health services, and a domestic violence service. I’ve had a personal experience with DV, so I’m going to donate to that. Well, that and MLL and Ukraine. I had a set amount that I intended to donate, and I’m going to give half to Ukraine, and divide up the other parts between those two. Will post receipts. OP will deliver.

  1. If you want to give to good cause I would point out MLL (Mannerheimin lastensuojelu liitto) they are very good with not wasting the money on bureaucracy.

Non monetary way you could donate blood thru Finnish red cross if you are able.

  2. Blood is always needed but if that is not possible some Finnish hospitals have pages where you can donate, though not all since to be able to legally receive donations in Finland you need to have permit.

  3. You can donate to hospitals I believe (in Tampere taystuki.fi, oyther hospitals likely have similar donation options) or Pelastakaa Lapset ry (save the children) , Mieli ry (mental health services). These are just examples.

  4. If you work here, pay taxes! Thats why we pay them. If want to donate, donate to UA! That helps more than just us

  5. I’m glad our social system could provide you with the help you needed!

Mental health services in Finland are underfunded and dysfunctional. You could help those struggling with their mental health (and maybe help save a life) if you donated to or volunteered for one of the following:

[Mieli](https://mieli.fi/en/) is a nationwide NGO dedicated to mental health work. They operate a crisis helpline and provide various kinds of help for people struggling with mental health and loneliness.

[Helsinki missio](https://www.helsinkimissio.fi/) (website in finnish or swedish only) is a similar NGO with a religious background based in Helsinki. They also operate a nationwide crisis helpline.

[Nyyti](https://www.nyyti.fi/en/) is an organisation that works to promote mental wellbeing amongst students.

[Nollalinja](https://nollalinja.fi/en/) operates a crisis helpline for victims of domestic abuse (a bit unrelated but equally important).

  6. Donating to Ukraine is a great idea! If you don’t like supporting arms purchases, you can donate to UNICEF or the Red Cross, too. In addition to supporting local NGOs, being a customer to local businesses is also a good way. They will pay part of their income to the state anyway.

  7. There are several animal rescue associations that are finnish based. Maybe not what you had in mind but gives back in a different way. Viipurin Koirat for example

  8. As someone said, donate to Ukraine and help destroy Russian military.

Vote for Finland in Eurovision 2023, please. This is extremely important!

Subscribe to Finnish OnlyFans and support our thots.

Comment positive things on threads about Sanna Marin. :3

  9. Live your life to the fullest, pay it back to someone who needs it. Finland is not a perfect country by any means, but overall we are doing very well, and as a Finn I’m proud we were able to help you unconditionally.

  10. You can actually “donate” money to the State Treasury of Finland by sending them email and asking for a bank account number where to send the money. However I would never do this and instead give the money to some NGO.

  11. I think it’s the most Finnish thing ever “how can I help you” “help someone other” (in reference of Ukraine etc).
You know what you can do, do it.
