As reported by the online media Suspilne.

Ukraine stated its readiness to engage in negotiations on any platform to end the war, with the exception of Russia and Belarus, which were allies in the aggression against Ukraine in 2022.

“I’ve heard several times publicly that the Russian side invited me, I think, personally. I responded to that. We are defending our state, Russia attacked us, and they are the aggressor. I cannot come to talks with Putin in Moscow, the capital of a country that is the aggressor in this war.”

Negotiations in Abu Dhabi: A Chronicle of Events

Negotiations involving Ukrainian, American, and Russian sides took place in Abu Dhabi on February 4–5. The discussions lasted about five hours. On February 5, the discussions continued.

The Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) and head of the Ukrainian delegation, Rustem Umerov, reported that the negotiations began around 12:00, and in the evening noted that after the trilateral meeting the work continued in a group format. Later Umerov said that during the two days of talks in Abu Dhabi the delegations of Ukraine, the United States, and Russia discussed methods for implementing a ceasefire and monitoring the cessation of hostilities. They also reached an agreement on a prisoner exchange – the first such exchange in five months took place on February 5.

Such talks underscore the importance of dialogue in pursuing lasting peace and reinforce the role of international oversight in implementing the agreements.
