  1. Hey everyone! I’m a Canadian freelance writer and journalist who volunteered on the Ukrainian border in March and April. I hope to return soon to your incredible country. While I was there, I spoke to many people originally coming from Ukrainian, such as Senam, who have compelling and inspiring stories of human resilience. Most of them I spoke to in Poland, and have been taken in by generous Polish families.

Here’s a full transcript of my discussion with Senam – I hope for these exchanges to provide a closer look at the human impact of the war, and encourage a more empathetic view of the individual struggle that Russian aggression has imposed on the people who once lived in Ukraine. I also want to shed light on the kindness and charity of the Polish people.

Is Poland just opening its borders to everyone coming from Ukraine?
