UBS has announced the appointment of a 30-year veteran and former employee as its head of wealth management for Australia, finews.asia has learned.

UBS has appointed Andrew Bird as head of global wealth management (GWM) Australia, according to an internal memo seen by finews.asia, effective April 27. He will also join the bank’s GWM management team for Southeast Asia, Japan, India and Australia as well as the Australia country management forum.

Based in Sydney, he reports to co-head GWM APAC Jin Yee Young and locally to co-country heads of Australasia Nick Hughes and Greg Peirce.
