Malta’s tourism sector closed 2025 on a strong note, with 225,104 inbound tourists recorded in December alone, a 17% increase compared to the same month in 2024.

During the final month of the year, visitors spent a total of 1,383,810 nights on the island, generating €162.9 million in expenditure.

Across the entire year, inbound tourists reached 4,022,310, while total nights spent climbed to 25.4 million. The vast majority of guest nights, 85.4%, were spent in rented accommodation establishments, highlighting the continued dominance of hotels and similar lodging in Malta’s tourism mix.

Tourist expenditure for 2025 was estimated at €3.9 billion, with per capita spending standing at €971.

The figures mark another milestone year for Malta’s tourism industry, reinforcing the sector’s continued economic impact as visitor numbers and spending both trend upward.
