February 12, 1809 – Abraham Lincoln was born in a log cabin in Kentucky on Feb. 12, 1809.
His father was a farmer and his mother died when he was nine years old. His father’s second wife encouraged his scholarship.
Largely self-taught, Lincoln would go on to become the sixteenth President of the United States before his assassination in 1865.
