I wore this for my culture day at school, I made it my self, does it look like Slovak folk wear?

  1. It looks similiar, but just like undershirt nit like real kroj shirt, that will have bigger flowered place on chest, and same on wrists, but for commercial use, like school day or photoposting it is ok

  2. Our folk wear would be made of linen or hemp, definitely something made on loom rather then knitted fabric.

Having said that: as you are not aiming at historical accuracy, but rather culture appreciation, I think you did well 🙂

If you want to improve for next year, then try to find out what micro-region you would like to represent, as our dresses vary a lot by different micro-regions and try to emulate that. And woven fiber is the way to go 🙂

  3. You look like person from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, except you are missing shiny boots and black name label.

  4. Slovakia has many historical regions and because of that we have many different Folkwear (Slovak: kroj) Different regions use difderent motives, styles, colours and cuts. Your hoodie would not pass as traditional clothes, but it definitely passes as great design inspired by traditional clothes. Plus, it also looks good as modern fashion. Good job OP.

  5. Hey, it’s not bad for a home made one. A kroj, atleast the ones I’ve seen, will usually have a more blouse like appearance, or a button down for our american speaking friends. The patterned part looks okay, you could have also added that to the sleeve ends. As someone else pointed out, it would generally be made of linen or hemp, but this is fine for general purposes. Also white pants would have tied it all together a little more. Take this all with a grain of salt too, I’m from Bratislava, and so am a bit of a city slicker. But all in all, not bad my dude.
