In the 2016 Iowa Republican caucuses, Ted Cruz won the state overall. Cruz carried three of Iowa’s four congressional districts (Districts 1, 2 and 4), while Marco Rubio, currently serving as Trump’s Secretary of State, won District 3, which includes the Des Moines metropolitan area. Statewide results showed Cruz with 27.6% of the vote (8 pledged delegates), Donald Trump with 24.3% (7 delegates), and Rubio with 23.1% (7 delegates).
