We can talk about the VAT rate sure, but all those other cost increases are not going to magically go down in the future, they are here to stay. If your business is not viable then its not viable, the tax payer cant bail them all out, you need a new business model.
If people have nothing left after paying their rent/mortgage, bills and food then the rest of the economy will die with massive job losses.
Whats killing the company I work for is lack of staff.
Note to reddit business consultants – yes the pay is fair and yes we do advertise.
Local bars are charging £7-8 for a pint, £10 for a spirit and mixer *(staff on rubbish wages)*
Taxi home is usually £30 or more *(driver on rubbish wages)*
Someone is making money?
Nights out have become such an indulgence, I’m sure for a lot of people it will be the first thing to go when money gets tight.
They should be doing better than most, electricity is half price at night.
Night time businesses like clubs and gentlemen huts?
Well, the 12 months after that will be pretty darn exciting for the ruling class, for as long as they last.
A night out just costs too much for people to go out every night like you could just ten years ago. Unless you are pre-drinking at home, you can easily blow your entire budget on a few drinks at a mediocre club these days. With people counting every penny, night clubs are just not going to survive at this rate.
The UK is a service economy so it needs people to have money to spend for our economy to work. So if these businesses want to stay open it needs to pay its staff more at least so they can spend the money in our service economy. But that’s a huge simplification.
Our economy stagnated due to austerity and it’s going to slide with the cost of living crisis and it could of all been avoided but the right wing government decided to say “ha fuck you”
