Lithuania’s annual inflation rate eased to 3.1% in January 2026 from 3.4% in the previous month.

This marked the lowest reading since December 2024, as prices moderated for alcoholic beverages and tobacco (7.2% vs 8.0% in December 2025), health (2.8% vs 3.9%), restaurants and hotels (5.8% vs 6.1%), recreation and culture (5.4% vs 5.7%), miscellaneous goods and services (3.9% vs 4.8%), communication (2.7% vs 3.5%) and education (3.1% vs 3.8%).

At the same time, prices declined for transport (-1.4% vs 0.7%) and furnishings, household equipment and routine household maintenance (-0.4% vs 1.0%).

On the other hand, costs increased at a faster pace for food and non-alcoholic beverages (4.4% vs 4.1%), housing and utilities (2.6% vs 0.5%), clo 2.7%), and clothing and footwear (0.9% vs 0.7%).

On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose 1.5% in January, rebounding from a 0.1% drop in the preceding period.
